Big Sean References Zordon from Power Rangers

“Bigger Than Me” – Big Sean

Big Sean Delivers Another Win

“Whoa Tanny, you sure do have your ear to the streets!” – Jimmy

That’s right tan fan.  The streets are hungry for other things besides advice on all-natural tanning and sun safety.  As a true renaissance man, it’s up to Tanny to stay abreast on all sorts of things, including hip-hop.  Inclusive in my hip-hop responsibilities are finding fresh, new bangers, like Big Sean’s “Bigger Than Me.”  I mean, if Tanny didn’t, then who would?

So it’s with great joy that I’ve found a few moments to review Big Sean’s latest album, “I Decided.”  Old Tanny has long been a Big Sean fan, all the way back to the time hits like “My Last” and the Kanye West assisted “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay” came out.  The secret about Big Sean though, is that his songs that don’t hit the radio are just as good as the ones that do.  The other secret about Big Sean is that his material keeps getting better with time, which doesn’t usually happen with rappers.

So check out the song “Bigger Than Me” , which gives you a great taste of Big Sean’s positive and motivational tunes.  Because…who doesn’t need new music to get them in grind-mode?

If you liked “Bigger Than Me”, then you should listen to a few other tracks off the album and some of Big Sean’s previous albums as well.  If you’re chilling with a lady, check out “I Know” off of the album Dark Sky Paradise and “Memories Faded” from his side project with Jhene Aiko called Twenty88.

Another song off “I Decided.” that makes Tanny want to go hard in the paint is called “Voices in My Head/Stick to the Plan”.  In this song, Big Sean compares the size of his watch to Zordon from the Power Rangers, when he says:

“Big Face Like Zordon”

Big Sean references Zordon from power rangers while describing the size of his watch

Wow, that must be a really large and expensive watch!

For those of you that don’t know, Zordon is a large head that mentors the Power Rangers and tells them what to do.  God bless hip-hop and the evolution of the English language.

If you want to stay up on other new hip-hop tunes, give old Tanny’s playlist on Spotify a follow below.  This music is for mature audiences and often contains explicit lyrics, so please listen at your own risk.  This playlist spans multiple years, with the latest stuff at the bottom.

    • Very funny, leveraging that historical wit of yours. This is my equivalent of pre-peachtree music to get hyped up.
